It's hard to be awake. I found this on Krakez.com. It happened in the DC Metro Station on January 2007. It was sort of a social experiment about perception and being awake.
I'm sure that guilt plays in many different ways in this experiment. I often feel guilt when I pass a homeless guy and do not give him some spare cash. .. anyway good point.
If you see imaginative and engaging street artists, you see a higher percentage of people stopping, watching and even donating. Maybe the perception of "the greatest musician", "the finest music ever written" and certainly "violin worth $3.5 million" are false perceptions and out in the real world, outside of the world of snobbery and pretensions we are less impressed by such externally imposed valuations.
James - why do people go to classical music concerts or to opera? Is it really to hear the music or is it to fulfill some kind of high-brow perception? I personally been to one opera and hated it ..
I wonder how many people didn't stop because they would then feel guilty when they didn't give him any money.
