Garden Pictures with Lumix DMC-FH5

Well my new camera from Amazon arrive this morning. It shipped much quicker than I expected. So, I charged the battery and took some garden porn. The camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH5 16.1 MP and so far so good. Very easy to use and the picture quality if fantastic. The auto-focus is quick if not just a little bit noisy. The menu system is bit confusing, not as intuitive as the Canon or the Pentax. As you can see the macro function is excellent and focuses quickly. The only problem that I've run into so far is that the SD card must be formatted a special way to record video. The size is incredible .. very thin with a solid frame.

I will but a link to Amazon if you're interested in purchasing the camera. For the money I think it's the best on the market. If you purchase through this link - yours truly get a little cash-love back through Amazon.

Vegas Jackpot Garden

My daughter and I have been working on our garden. It's in Las Vegas - which means nothing but dirt, neon and money grow well here. In any case, we've managed to get a few plants off the ground and some are even thriving - especially artichokes.

I am also working on reducing the amount of water the garden consumes. I replaced the old sprayers with a new drip system. Most of the plants however are not water efficient, but with the new irrigation system the daily consumption is less than a typical shower.

Here are some pictures .. took these with the Pentax before I have to send it in for repairs on Tuesday.

And this one.

Got this off Ebay - don't know what it is

The tiger is out!
We also have a great herb garden - with cilantro, sage, oregano, thyme. There's basil, but for some reason I can never get it to grow.

New Happy - My Artichoke

This time of year is hard for me. Football is long over - even the NFL Draft has come and gone. I'm not really that into pro-basketball. Although it looks great on HDTV, NASCAR doesn't really do it for me. Baseball is okay if you go and see the game, but on television it is just boring.

So when my backyard finally overcomes my neglect and produces the yearly artichoke - well I kind of choke up upon seeing the artichoke. This is picture of the 2011 first bumper crop. Here is the main choke in all its baby glory.
