Things have gone too far

It's an indication of world has become way too connected when a girl who can play the guitar and sing also knows what the "Constant of Integration" is. And what it means to zerg and missing your Companion Cube.

Smart, talented and good with video games is too much ... I think it's time there was less information in the world.

Sideways Damnation

Wanted to play World of Warcraft while watching the movie Sideways. But damn it, I forgot how good this movie is and now I stuck watching it on a tiny seven inch screen.

If you grew up in the 80's, it's our Death of a Salesman. It's the White Man's journey ..

Skyrim - next WoW?

Skyrim is an RPG game in The Elder Scrolls series. It was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and will be available sometime around November 2011 for the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game uses Bethesda's Creation Engine to render the environment This is a revolutionary way to use polygons and gives incredible detail. Each frame looks like a postcard.

The big things for us were to draw a lot of stuff in the distance so we have a really sophisticated level of detail, more so than what we've had in the past for how things stream in and how detail gets added to them as they get closer to the camera,” explains Bethesda Studios creative director Todd Howard. - Game Informer

Take a look at the demo from Quakecon.

Skip to just before 5:00 to see the actual demonstration.

Although Skyrim is a straight RPG this has got to be where MMO's are headed. I mean the graphics in World of Warcraft have held up over the years, mainly because it uses a cartoonish style. But the jagged, pixelated tree branches and the blockish terrain is getting very dated. I don't see how I could go backs to such simple and blurry graphics after playing Skyrim. Blizzard has got to make some fundamental changes.

Death Wing Achievement

I earned a special achievement in World of Warcraft when my gnome warrior was killed by the mighty Deathwing. I am so happy .. and it's one of the truly geeked-out joys that only someone who spends a lot time in front of a computer monitor can understand. Here's a screen capture of the moment it happened.

Fart Fire dead from Deathwing

The achievement is called, "Stood in the Fire". My character's name is Fart Fire. He is in the Pollos Diablos guild on the Cenarius server.

Mobile Gaming Dominates Game Developers Conference

I've been in the video game industry a long, long time. I've designed games for the NES, SNES, Sega, Sony, PC and other platforms.

In the universe there's this stuff called Dark Matter ... no one really knows what it is but it makes up 80 percent of the universe. Computer gambling games - (slot machines, video poker, horse race games, online poker) are the dark matter of the video game industry.

It is where most of the money is made and where most of the player are. Take one casino in Vegas - MGM, they have around 3k slot machines pulling about 250 bucks a day in profit .. that's about $750,000 a day. .. one casino .. one city. Of course there's volatility - but you can see my point. Now with China opening up casinos and the explosion of Internet gambling ..

The "new" popularity of mobile games, which are really just casual games on a small devices are nothing more than slop spilled over from the gambling genre. Highly repetitive with quick, inconsistent reward systems.

The video game console business is extremely volatile with huge cycles. Just look at the history of Atari, NES, SNES, Sega ... The computer game industry will always be there .. not huge .. except for World of Warcraft, but without the giant fluctuations.

So, when so-called experts say the trend is this way or that . take it with a grain of salt.

I'm a World of Warcraft Music Man

My World of Warcraft sheet music arrived today and I am already geeked out about it. Recently I purchased a Casio WK-200 keyboard for my daughter to learn piano on .. Secretly, I also purchased it for myself. It has a MIDI interface .. and you know.

It has been a long time since I played piano and I have hand tremors from my MS, but I thought .. it can't hurt to give it a try ..

The songs included in this Anthology are:

A Call to Arms
Garden of Life
Gatges of the Black Temple
Intro Movie: Seasons of War
Invincible
Karazhan
Lament of the Highborne
Lion's Pride ---> see Youtube video
Mountains of Thunder
Pig and Whistle
The Shaping of the World
Totems of the Grizzlemaw
Wrath of the Lich King (Main Title) Suite.

I looked through it and it doesn't seem too complex .. So, I think I'm going to try one of these songs out .. record it and put it up on the blog.

If you're interested in purchasing this sheet music you can find it at ----> Sheet Music Plus

Blizzard Theme Park Being Built In China

Seems Blizzard is going the Disney route by creating a World of Warcraft and Starcraft theme park in China. According to the Huffington Post, the WoW park is called Joyland and is in the Wunjin district.

Inside Joyland, the park will be distributed into different regions, and those areas will be themed with various popular anime games, such as “Moore Park”, “Legend of the world”, “Starcraft”, “World of Warcraft” and “Mysterious Island”. - M.I.C Gadget.

Now I have to figure out how to get to China .. without spend any money. I wonder if someone would pay me to do a full report .. a full up close and personal report.
